Lori and Andy chose Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
to get married because they are avid skiers
who love it here in Golden B.C.

Traveling from Minnesota to get married on top of a beautiful mountain in Canada is what skiers do. They had everything planned out and were even bringing their own photographer (whom is a friend and skis too). However, this friend broke their leg a week before the big day and that is when they reached out to me. We met the day before the wedding to go over their vision. There was an instant connection when we started chatting about their love of skiing.

The morning of the wedding they had another hic-up. Andy had gone into town to get the marriage license and discovered the court house in flames. He went to the town office where the lovely staff and even our Mayor was there to help him out. Andy had this set back resolved with in the hour with out Lori knowing anything about it.

Being racers and coaches for years says a lot about the level at which they ski and what they can endure as far as cold wintry conditions. Something they really wanted was photos skiing with their kids and a portrait on the Stairway to heaven staircase. In order to get there, we had to ride the chair and being the hardy souls they all are, they did it with out wearing their coats. It was dumping snow but they insisted for the sake of the photo. We had some great pow turns in some white out conditions. We met the group of skiing friends half way down the mountain for some group ski shots.

It was time to head back up the Gondola and get Lori and Andy hitched on the Eagle Eye terrace. It was still snowing steady when the ceremony started with the wind whipping the snow around I had to continually wipe my lenses. The guests, being mostly skiers from Minnesota, were pretty hardy and didn’t get fazed. The ceremony had many laughing through tears. They had a lovely snow covered ‘cheers’ before everyone moved inside. We captured a few family portraits before we headed down the gondola.

The reception was at the Wolfs Den in Golden. The perfect apre ski location, great ambiance with amazing food. Lori and Andy were surrounded by wonderful friends and family who had many stories to share over many pints. But I know this crowd had their priorities and saw them the next morning in line at the hill. They got a powder day to celebrate their nuptials.
