Lydia and Andy hired me in 2021 for their ski wedding in 2022. Traveling from Washington and their 90+ guests from all over the USA. It was wise to postpone a year with the pandemic and many on going restriction changes at the boarder. They wanted to make sure all their family and friends could join them. We met ounce during this time to discuss their plan. It was very important that their photographer be able to ski with them. No worries, this ex-ski patroler knows her way around the mountain on sticks.
Lydia and Andy said their vows on the terrace of the Eagle Eye Restaurant at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Surrounded by 100 of their closest friends and family from all over the USA. Lydia chose a Black Diamond Gortex suit as her very practical gown, and she looked radiant. Andy in his Black suit was escorted down the isle by his sons. The ceremony was blessed with sunshine, laughter and views that the guests will always remember.
After the Champaign toast and a few family photos it was time for the finale. Capturing 50 people skiing down at the same time is very daunting. I was grateful we had a day on the hill scouting for this. It all went very smooth and I was even able to capture them coming into the base greeted by the non-skiers.
The White Tooth Grill at the base of the mountain hosted the apre ski reception. Andy and Lydia have different cultural back grounds and this made the reception very rich with a fusion of traditions. I left after the first dance but I am sure the celebration went on for days with more skiing and apre fun.

Lydia and Andy love skiing as much as I do. I was thrilled when they asked if they could take their engagements on the slopes at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort a couple days before their wedding. This was an opportunity to talk about their up coming wedding day and ski out those pre-wedding jitters. One of the biggest logistics of their wedding day would be capturing them and 50 others skiing after their ceremony. So we scouted the locations where this would work the best. We made sure we captured their love for the mountains, in the mountains and had a lot of turns in too. They were impressed with how much skiing we actually did and even had their first turns down the White Wall. Looking forward to making more turns with them when they visit from Washington again.

What Andy and Lydia had to say
Where do I begin in terms of how perfect it was to work with Amy as our photographer for our ski wedding at Kicking Horse?! As I look through all the photos to figure out which ones to print as a thank you to family and guests and for us, I am blown away by how perfectly she captured our outdoor ceremony at Eagle Eye, the ski down with 45 of our guests (not an easy feat!), and the reception at White Tooth Grill.
But even more importantly, as someone that is not the most comfortable with being photographed, Amy made the entire experience feel so natural! It felt more like she was our friend and was so fun to work with!
And as avid skiers, the icing on the cake for us was the fact that Amy is former ski patroller who definitely knows her way around the mountain! We opted to use our engagement session 2 days before the wedding to have Amy get some incredible shots of us skiing. This was a highlight for us and we are so grateful for her expertise both as a skier and a photographer!
