I was thrilled when Shannon contacted me to capture her family on an adventure. They were exploring B.C. and our wonderful National parks on their summer holiday from Washington. I had a couple local hikes in mind, just outside Golden, that would be suitable for their family. I sent Shannon the information on them and she chose Dainard Lakes. A longer drive from Golden but a gentle hike for 5 and 8 y/o kids.
Dainard Lakes are a 20 minute hike from the parking area, where the views are pretty amazing over looking the Beaverfoot Valley. The trail is well traveled to the lakes but as you walk the shore line around they have become more overgrown. The hike was easily managed by this outdoor family. A short distance around the lake there is a large rock outcrop which made for an ideal lunch spot and photo opportunity. There was a wardrobe change for the portraits because why not and every little girl should have a dress that becomes her adventure dress.
