Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden was the location Cam and Matt chose for their destination Summer wedding. The couple with forty of their closest friends and family traveled from Ontario to celebrate their love in the mountains. And their love for the mountains. The mountains did not disappoint.
Cam and Matt like to visit Kicking Horse at least once a year and have been doing this for many years and have built a strong connection with these mountains. So it made sense to them to get hitched here. July is typically a little warmer but anything can happen in the mountains weather wise. For what this summer has produced so far it was not surprising to see clouds and showers in the morning. Traveling up the gondola to the top of Kicking Horse to the Eagle Eye Restaurant the sky was very dark. When the guests arrived for the ceremony it was scattered clouds over the Purcell mountains, they were greeted by all the amazing views and Derek Docherty on the Bagpipes calling them to the Eagle Eye. He also played as Cam walked down the aisle. The ceremony was sweet and again the timing was perfect, as soon as Cam and Matt walked back up the isle as husband and wife the sky opened up and poured solid for a half an hour. Keeping an eye on the sky is what I constantly do. So just before desert the light started to change and I knew it was the moment. We went for a little walk to a look out ( keeping in mind Matts uncomfortableness with hight ) We were able to capture some amazing sun set with a rainbow over the Columbia valley portraits. We were back just in time for desert and first dance. Tracy Mihajic was DJ and sound for the evening so I am sure there was a lot of dancing and good times.
