Emily and Aaron traveled to Golden for their mountain holiday. They stayed at the Cedar House Chalets with their puppy Ginger where they could easily go for winter walks in the wilderness. They of course wanted mountain scenery in their portraits so we visited a look out over the Columbia Valley with the Purcell mountains in the back drop. They also brought their ice-skates a long so we went to Reflection Lake for a little glide. Emily and Aaron are getting married this summer in Ontario where they will be closer to all their family. Best of luck on the new adventure you two.
Brenda and Jarod drove up from Radium, where they are getting married this summer, to have their engagements taken in Golden. These two were hoping for the dramatic back drop of the Purcell Mountains and the Columbia wet lands in their portraits, but the mountains had other plans. We got a hint of our surroundings through the snowy circumstances but the focus was definitely on these love birds. Jarod being a hunter had some cute props we put to use in some photos. They are both hockey fans and brought their skates to get out on the ice however with all the new snow it was too deep.
They brought their fury family member Zoey with them to be a part of the session. She is a very energetic Golden Doodle who loved where we chose to walk and play in the snow. I love when couples include their dogs in the photos, they are such a huge part of their lives.
It was a beautiful snowy day at Emerald Lake Lodge. Dani and Mike made the journey from Calgary to have their engagements in the mountains. They were hoping for the scenic mountanous back drop, but the mountains had other plans. We met at the Natural Bridge in Yoho National Park. The waterfall under the bridge has frozen solid from the continuos cold weather, it was a nice spot to be out of the sieways snow for a while.
Dani and Mike are saying ‘I do’ in Fernie at Island Lake Lodge this June. A very stunning location in the Lizard Mountain range and very appropriate venue for this adventurous couple who love mounatain biking and hiking. They even brought their fat bikes out for a spin on Emerald Lake but the conditions were challenging with the snowy conditions. They where able to stop in Canmore for a ride on their way home.
I have alway been someone who prefers all things natural; lighting, backdrop, people. When Heather and Ray agreed to take their engagements snowboarding at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort I was thrilled. A lifestyle engagement shoot. A couple doing something they love together. Being themselves in the mountains. Natural. I caught up with them at the end of one of our bigger powder days we have had this year and asked them if they wanted to take a little walk. They were very sweet and agreed to hike to Super Bowl with me where the lighting had been beautiful the run before. It was nice to take our time and chat about their up coming wedding in May at Hillside Lodge and Chalets. We got some pretty good turn as well.
It has been a very cold winter here in Golden, the past week has been consistently -20 and below. This did not discourage Erin and Robin from getting their skates on for their engagement session. The couple met playing hockey so it seemed very appropriate that they lace up at Reflection Lake in the Columbia Valley for some scenic and romantic shots. These love birds are getting married at the Beaverfoot Lodge in July.
